Equipment Manager Internship
The Albany Firebirds equipment manager internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. Interns will assist with managing and maintaining team gear, including helmets and uniforms, ensuring everything is game-ready. Reports to: Head Equipment Manager
Position Overview:
The Equipment Manager Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the team by managing and maintaining all equipment-related needs. This position offers hands-on experience in the daily operations of a sports team, providing an opportunity to work closely with coaching staff, players, and game-day operations personnel. The intern will gain valuable insight into the logistical side of team management and help ensure the smooth functioning of practices and games. May travel with the team.
**Interns are required to make all home games at MVP Arena 51 S Pearl St, Albany, NY 12207**
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Equipment Manager with inventory control, maintenance, and organization of all team equipment (helmets, pads, jerseys, etc.).
- Set up and break down equipment for practices, games, and other team events.
- Ensure that all gear and uniforms are cleaned, maintained, and repaired as necessary.
- Help manage equipment transportation to and from game locations.
- Assist with fitting athletes for equipment to ensure proper safety standards.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and report shortages or damage.
- Maintain an organized and efficient equipment room.
- Assist with laundry services for uniforms and gear after practices and games.
- Provide support to players and coaches with any equipment needs.
- Follow all safety protocols when handling and maintaining equipment.
Qualifications:
- Passion for sports and interest in learning about equipment management.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends and evenings.

Knowledge
- The spring semester internship duration will be approximately February to July 2025, aligned with the Albany Firebirds pre and in season.
- All interns must be over the age of 18.
- All interns must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from events and the office.
- All internships are in-person; no remote opportunities are available at this time.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends within the student’s designated credit hour requirements, when necessary.
- Internships do not provide compensation, housing, or transportation.
- Internships do not guarantee full-time positions with the Firebirds upon completion.
- As a condition of the internship, qualified applicants will be subject to a background check, including a criminal background check, character references, and, if applicable, a driving history check.
