Albany Firebirds: In-Season Internship Overview (Spring 2025 Semester) (January - July)
The Albany Firebirds are offering in-season internships for the Spring 2025 semester in Gameday Operations, Media, and Ticket Sales. This internship provides hands-on experience in the fast-paced world of professional sports, allowing interns to gain valuable skills and exposure across multiple departments within the organization.
Internship Areas:
- Gameday Operations: Assist with the setup and execution of all game-day activities, ensuring smooth operations for fans, teams, and staff. This includes coordinating pre-game, in-game, and post-game events, as well as working closely with the team mascot and handling various fan engagement activities.
- Media Relations: Support the Media Department with tasks such as social media management, press releases, and assisting with in-game media coverage. Interns will also help produce digital content and work with photographers and videographers to capture key moments during games and events.
- Ticket Sales: Gain experience in the sales process, from promoting season ticket packages to assisting with group sales. Interns will also have the opportunity to interact with fans, manage ticket orders, and provide customer service on game days.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking energetic, outgoing individuals who are passionate about sports and have a strong desire to learn. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

**Additional Information:**
- This is an unpaid internship.
- Interns are required to be available for all Firebirds home games at the MVP Arena 51 S Pearl St, Albany, NY 12207 (plus any home playoff games)
- Housing and transportation are not provided.
- Interns may be required to assist in other departments when needed
Knowledge & Experience
- The spring semester internship duration will be approximately January to July 2025, aligned with the Albany Firebirds pre and in season.
- All interns must be over the age of 18.
- All interns must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from events and the office.
- Proficient computer skills are required, including the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- All internships are in-person; no remote opportunities are available at this time.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends within the student’s designated credit hour requirements, when necessary.
- Internships do not provide compensation, housing, or transportation.
- Internships do not guarantee full-time positions with the Firebirds upon completion.
- As a condition of the internship, qualified applicants will be subject to a background check, including a criminal background check, character references, and, if applicable, a driving history check.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Media Relations Internship Experience
- Experience with social media content capture and publishing.
- Photography and video editing skills are preferred.
- Assist in organizing, tagging, and distributing photos throughout the season.
- Help organize and analyze the performance of published content, providing feedback on engagement and reach.
- Assist with creating content calendars and scheduling posts across social media platforms.
- Owning a camera is not required but recommended.
- Strong knowledge of various social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube).
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines for live events and content releases.

Work Conditions
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, lifting, and grasping.
- Ability to lift at least 20 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- The position may require extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Must be able to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays for events.
